Jawline Treatment: Contour with Filler and Botulinum Toxin
How jawbone, chin, masseter, fat and skin define the jawline and when filler or botulinum toxin may be considered.

The whole proportion matters
Lower-face contour comes from the mandible, chin, chewing muscle, subcutaneous fat, salivary glands, skin and neck. A less defined transition therefore has more than one possible cause.
Filler and botulinum toxin can have opposing effects: filler adds volume, while toxin may reduce a prominent muscle over time. Starting anatomy determines the plan.
Jawline filler builds contour
Hyaluronic acid filler may support chin projection or selected parts of the mandibular line. It cannot permanently replace deficient bone and may make a broad face appear wider depending on placement.
Risks include swelling, bruising, nodules, infection, asymmetry and rare vascular occlusion. Severe pain, pale or mottled skin and visual symptoms are urgent warning signs.
Botulinum toxin in the masseter
When a large chewing muscle contributes to contour, temporary reduction may change the lower face. Chewing weakness, smile asymmetry, hollow cheeks or less favourable skin laxity are possible.
Jaw symptoms and teeth grinding need separate assessment. Dental damage, sleep, stress and joint problems are not automatically treated by an aesthetic contour procedure.
Alternatives depend on the cause
Fat, skin excess, a recessed chin or bite problem may require different conservative, dermatological, dental, orthodontic or surgical approaches. One injection is not a universal solution.
Planning without a template
A desired contour may be soft, straight or angular and is not automatically tied to gender. Front, profile and movement are considered together. A photograph alone is insufficient to choose a procedure.
Frequently asked questions
01Does jawline filler automatically make the face slimmer?
No. It adds volume and may make some starting shapes appear wider.
02When may masseter treatment be considered?
When a prominent chewing muscle contributes substantially to contour and assessment finds no overriding concern.
03Does it automatically treat bruxism?
No. Bruxism is a separate medical and dental issue with several possible causes.
